Textile Designer

Specialising In Knitwear

I am an award-winning Textile Designer recently graduating from De Montfort University, Leicester. Specialising in Knitted Textiles mainly used for the high-end fashion market. I use a holistic approach to design and immerse myself completely in each project to come up with fabrics that are original, exclusive and unique.

I create intricate mathematical knits with a meaning. I use fine yarns on the Dubied Fine Gauge Knitting machine and incorporate my Drawing Skills into my Knitted Fabrics using Adobe Photoshop to create Jacquard Designs and Fashion Illustrations. I use my artistry and strength in creating artworks to inspire my fabrics. I have used methods such as paper manipulation, 3D textural surfaces, repeat pattern work and intense cutwork that have helped me visualise knitted outcomes. I have a good eye for colour and proportions of colour, although I enjoy creating tone on tone knits, I have developed my unique handwriting to be known as the designer that always adds a pop or a stripe of bright colour to their fabrics. I am always looking at new ways to develop my skills when knitting and have a tendency of always pushing my boundaries, I invent my own techniques, create new configurations for needle changing on the Dubied and spend hours on end transferring an intricate pattern with quality yarns. My knitted fabrics are always produced with sophistication in mind and the combination of yarn choices and techniques has created knits that are full of texture with a 3D, sculptural aesthetic. 

Research is a key feature within all of my projects and design work, it allows me to gather thorough inspiration for concepts and themes that then inspire design direction for my work. With the passion for research it has encouraged me to gather primary research out in the community, collaborating with individuals involved in the topic of study.  I love keeping up with current trends and therefore always use websites such as WGSN, Pinterest as well as Fashion Magazines.  

I have been approached by other designers who have identified my unique knits in order to collaborate with them on their future projects. I keep connected to other designers and industry professionals through my social media pages to share ideas, keep up with the latest trends and showcases my currents projects.
